Migration/asylum. A Civil Liberties Committee delegation will go to La Valetta (Malta) to see how the European Asylum Support Office (EASO) supports EU member states’ refugee crisis management work. EASO’s future tasks will also be debated in the light of the recent EU Commission proposal to enhance the agency’s mandate. Members will also meet Home Affairs and National Security Minister Carmelo Abela and hear from the Maltese Agency for the Welfare of Asylum Seekers. (Monday and Tuesday)
Mali. A Security and Defence Subcommittee delegation will go to Bamako, Mali, to meet the country’s leaders and to visit the EU CSDP missions helping to train the Malian armed forces and reform Mali’s internal security forces. MEPs will also visit the UN stabilisation force MINUSMA. (Monday to Thursday)
UN Conference on Trade and Development. A joint delegation of the Development and International Trade committees will attend the 14th Ministerial meeting of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD 14) in Nairobi, Kenya. Heads of state or government and ministers will focus on delivering the post-2015 development agenda and decide on UNCTAD’s work programme for 2016-2020.(Tuesday to Friday)
Milk crisis: The Agriculture Committee will meet Commissioner Phil Hogan to discuss details of the new aid package for dairy farmers. Mr Hogan is expected to announce new support measures for the crisis-stricken dairy sector at the Agriculture Council’s meeting on Monday. (Tuesday)
